The Traceability Tools Navigator (TTN) goes live today - a free, open-access, vendor-neutral platform designed to cut through a crowded and complex market, as companies face a 77-day countdown to EUDR enforcement.

Preferred by Nature and WWF today launched the Traceability Tools Navigator (TTN), a free, open-access platform that allows companies, certification schemes, NGOs, and researchers to compare digital supply chain traceability tools side by side using a structured, neutral framework of approximately 100 criteria.

The launch comes as supply chain teams face mounting pressure to demonstrate compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which enters full enforcement for large and medium operators on 30 December 2026. The TTN is designed to help organisations identify the right tool for their needs to manage forest risk commodity supply chains under EUDR and related use cases without the commercial noise of a market dominated by competing vendor claims.

Developed through stakeholder consultation and funded by the ISEAL Innovations Fund, the navigator assesses tools across six categories: tool scope, data governance and interoperability, data collection, traceability, data analysis and risk assessment, and financial features. Tools are either displayed with self-disclosed provider information or as verified by Preferred by Nature, where tools have taken the voluntary verification process. All tool information is organised against a standardised framework to enable consistent, comparable evaluation.

"There's a totally free market. Regulators cannot favour any tools. So operators and other supply chain actors are left navigating a very dynamic ecosystem. The idea was to create a neutral source of information that makes tools comparable along a common feature framework," said Tobias Stäuble, Global Traceability Lead, Preferred by Nature

The platform covers three categories of tools: first-mile tools, which collect primary data directly from farms and production sites; downstream tools, which help companies manage traceability and due diligence across complex supply chains; and geospatial tools, which use satellite imagery to monitor land-use change and deforestation risk.

The TTN is free to use and requires no registration. Tool providers can submit their platforms for inclusion via a provider portal on the TTN website.

"WWF sees the Traceability Tools Navigator as filling a critical gap. It helps companies and other stakeholders find their way through the complexities of the digital tools landscape to identify those that are most fit for purpose. Because tool providers are required to update their information regularly, and there is an option for verification by Preferred by Nature, it supports a level of transparency and credibility on digital tools’ capabilities that is unmatched by other approaches," said Jason Grant, Manager, Corporate Engagement, Forests, WWF-US

“Preferred by Nature's Digital Tools Platform, supported by the ISEAL Innovations Fund, seeks to address the increasing complexity of due diligence requirements and their data solutions. The project is an example of the innovation the Fund supports, with a focus on developing solutions and sharing learning across our members. We look forward to learning more about the project’s findings and their potential application across sustainability systems," said Lucy Astill, Associate Manager, ISEAL Innovations Fund.

This work was possible thanks to a grant from the ISEAL Innovations Fund, funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO and UK International Development
